Literacy Programs

About our Programs

Are you currently working with or interested in working with literacy learners? We offer a nationally recognized and accredited literacy education program. Our literacy program will prepare you to be a literacy professional with quality and evidence-based pedagogical knowledge and expertise as a leader in the field of literacy.  Specifically, you will develop comprehensive knowledge about literacy and at the same actually working with literacy learners in the field as you develop and refine your pedagogical practices. Our graduate courses are given in a combination of on-campus face-to-face classes, synchronous hybrid classes, and online asynchronous classes.

Regardless of your background in literacy education, if you are interested in working in the field of literacy, we have options for you. We offer Literacy Partner Graduate Certificate, Literacy Teacher Graduate Certificate, Consulting Literacy Teacher Graduate Certificate, and Master of Arts in Literacy Education. Our programs can also lead you to earn an Idaho Literacy Endorsement or an English as a Second Language Endorsement.

Admission Requirement for Our Programs

  1. Undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale
  2. Admission the Graduate College at Boise State University
  3. 500-1000 word statement of your academic and professional goals and the ways in which the programs in the Department of Literacy, Language and Culture will help you achieve them.
