Council for Exceptional Children

The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) is the largest international professional organization dedicated to improving educational outcomes for individuals with exceptionalities, students with disabilities, and/or the gifted. CEC advocates for appropriate governmental policies, sets professional standards, provides continual professional development, advocates for newly and historically underserved individuals with exceptionalities, and helps professionals obtain conditions and resources necessary for effective professional practice.

InTASC Model Core Teaching Standards: A Resource for State Dialogue (April 2011)

These new model core teaching standards outline what all teachers across all content and grade levels should know and be able to do to be effective in today’s learning contexts. They are a revision of the 1992 model standards, in response to the need for a new vision of teaching to meet the needs of next generation learners. This document incorporates changes from a public feedback period in July 2010. –

National Center for Learning Disabilities

The mission of the National Center for Learning Disabilities (NCLD) is to increase opportunities for all individuals with learning disabilities to achieve their potential. NCLD accomplishes its mission by increasing public awareness and understanding of learning disabilities, conducting educational programs and services that promote research-based knowledge, and providing national leadership in shaping public policy. We provide solutions that help people with LD participate fully in society.

Project RESET

Project RESET (Recognizing Effective Special Education Teachers) is a four year research project funded by the US Department of Education. The goal is to create an evaluation tool that will provide teachers with feedback on their use and implementation of evidence-based practices to support the needs of students with learning disabilities.


Idaho Special Education Support & Technical Assistance (SESTA), in partnership with the State Department of Education, provides coordinated technical assistance and high-quality professional development opportunities to assist districts and schools in increasing their instructional capacity so they are able to provide an integrated systemic approach to improving the results of all students.
Idaho SESTA provides support to districts and schools so they can better support students with disabilities and provide a free, appropriate public education with high-quality programs for students ages 3-21 with disabilities.

To enable all students to achieve high academic standards and quality of life, the Special Education Bureau works collaboratively with districts, agencies, and parents to ensure students receive quality, meaningful, and needed services.

Idaho Parents Unlimited

Idaho Parents Unlimited, Inc. (IPUL) is a statewide organization founded to provide support, information and technical assistance to parents of children and youth with disabilities. Since 1989, IPUL has been designated as Idaho’s Parent Training and Information Center (PTI) by the U.S. Department of Education, which provides funding for its programs. IPUL’s activities are also supported from various state agencies, fund-raisers and through parents memberships.
