Program Information

Program Structure

The MIT program is designed as a full-time, one-year, fully online teacher preparation program. The program runs Summer-Fall-Spring-Summer and incorporates field work and teaching experiences throughout. Summer sessions are five-week sessions and the emphasis is placed on coursework and application outside of the classroom environment. During fall and spring semesters, candidates who are not working full-time in a special education or early childhood special education setting must complete a minimum of 10 hours per week of fieldwork in a program-approved setting.

Candidates will also complete a culminating portfolio, which provides the opportunity to synthesize learning from the program and document the way in which professional preparation standards have been addressed.
