Donnie Hale is an Assistant Director for Upward Bound programs, serving Capital, Borah and Owyhee High School, (Nevada). He also coordinates the academic portion of the summer program. He is been with the Boise State TRiO
Pre-college programs since 2005.
Donnie Hale is a native of Stockton, California. He attended San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton, Willamette University in Salem, Oregon and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Economics and African American History. He also holds a Masters in Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Boise State University. Currently, he is in his final year of a Doctoral degree in Education from Boise State.
Donnie has taught grades K-12 and college courses. He specializes in African American History, Sociology and Cultural Diversity. In addition, he has coached football and track at the collegiate level. Donnie loves the outdoors, traveling, running, biking and reading. He is the proud father of Taylor.

Sari Byerly is the Assistant Director for Upward Bound programs located at Caldwell, Meridian, and Nampa High Schools. For the past 8 years, Sari has
worked with TRiO Programs.She started her TRiO journey at the University of Utah and has been fortunate to contiue her work at Boise State University. “I believe strongly in TRiO, the positive impact these programs have on peoples' lives is without question extraordinary.” Sari attended the University of Utah and received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Science in Social Psychology.
She is currently pursuing a Ph.D in Educational Leadership through the University of Idaho-Boise.
“As the first person in my family to receive a college degree I remember the trials of a first-generation student. The wonderful feeling at the end of my journey was well worth it..” Sari hopes her work in TRiO will allow other students to have similar precious moments throughout their educational journey.
Jaime Campbell jcampbel@boisestate.edu
Jaime Campbell is an Upward Bound instructor at Nampa High School. Jaime
has been with the program since January of 2000. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and is a certified secondary education teacher in the content area of social studies. He also has a Master of Arts in Education. Jaime received his formal education at Boise State University and Eastern Oregon University.
Jaime was born and raised in La Grande, Oregon. He enjoys playing softball, watching football, and going to movies. Jaime lives in Meridian. He has two sons Bryce and Landon. Jaime is a sports fanatic and roots for the Boise State University Broncos and Oakland Raiders.

has a
Bachelor of Science in Psychology, and a Bachelor of Science in
Child Development and Family Relations, both from the University of
Idaho. Grace also has a Master of Science in Education from the State
University of New York-New Paltz.
Grace was born and raised in Twin Falls, Idaho and is the youngest of
eight siblings of a migrant farmworking family. Grace is bilingual and
speaks Spanish and English and is learning Hungarian. She enjoys
playing volleyball, reading and music. One of her passions is
traveling the world. She enjoys meeting new people and experiencing
new cultures. Grace is strongly devoted to philanthropy, and has
volunteered extensively overseas in South America and the within the
Eastern Europe block.
Grace and her husband, Bob live in Boise.

Pete Putra is an enrolled member of the Chippewa-Cree Tribe of the Rocky Boy’s Reservation in Montana.
family since October 2007.Pete Putra is an enrolled member of the Chippewa-Cree Tribe of the Rocky Boy’s Reservation in Montana. He has attended boarding schools, public schools and reservation schools. He graduated from Owyhee High School in 1977. He enlisted in the Marine Corps shortly after graduation, where he was trained in military supply. After the service he attended the Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute where he received an Accounting Technician Certificate in 1983.
He worked for the Shoshone-Paiute Tribes for many years in various positions including Child Care Director and the Education Training and Employment Director and is currently the Boise State University Upward Bound Teacher for Owyhee Combined School in Owyhee, Nevada. He has also worked with the very low-income people of diverse backgrounds and needs. He received a Bachelors Degree in History Secondary Education from Boise State University in 1994 and currently holds an Idaho Teaching Credential in Secondary Education. He is also trained in Neuro-Linguistic Programming or what he likes to refer to as Wholistic Communications. He received this training at Anchor Point Institute in Salt Lake City, UT. Over the years Pete has trained other professionals and laymen in the areas of Drug and Alcohol Counseling, Parenting and Teacher Education. Pete has also been asked to speak at various conferences and cultural events on spirituality and beliefs. He is actively involved in his culture and family life. His greatest reward comes from teaching people about their potential and letting them discover the resources that come from within. Pete currently resides on the Duck Valley Indian Reservation in Nevada with his family and friends. His goal is to become a better writer, speaker, teacher and trainer for those that are thirsting for peace, love and knowledge.
Josh Engler joins the Boise State University Upward Bound program as an Educational Specialist at Meridian High School. Josh recently graduated from the University of Wyoming with a Master of Social Work degree. Prior to earning his
MSW, Josh taught high school math for 3 years at Bismarck High School in Bismarck, North Dakota. He has a Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Minot State University.
During the past six summers, Josh worked for the University of Wyoming Upward Bound summer program as a team leader and residence hall director. Josh is thankful for the opportunity to join the BSU Upward Bound team and is looking forward to working with the students.

Jenni earned a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education from the University of Idaho and she is currently working on her Master’s degree in Counseling at Boise State University. Before joining Upward Bound, Jenni taught middle school
social studies for two years in New Orleans, Louisiana. She enjoys traveling and living in new places but she is happy to be back in Boise and close to her family. Jenni also enjoys reading, spending time outside, and cheering for the Vandals, the Saints, and the Hornets. She and her husband, Adam, and dog, Leo, live in Boise.
