Important Information regarding Praxis Scores:

Attention:  Effective August 30, 2013, the Office of Teacher Education no longer receives paper copies of Praxis scores from ETS.  We will only receive scores electronically.  It is the students’ responsibility to retain their own Praxis scores to include with applications, certification paperwork, job applications, etc.  To obtain a copy of your Praxis scores, please contact ETS: www.ets.org.

Important Information regarding the Teacher Education & Professional Year GPA requirements:

The following changes to the Teacher Education and Professional Year programs, effective Fall 2011 semester, have been made:

1. For Elementary Education, Bilingual Education, Special Education & Early Childhood Education:  For admission to the Teacher Education program, students must have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher.

2. For Secondary Education:  For admission to the Teacher Education & Professional Year programs, students must have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher.

Students submitting an application to the Teacher Education and/or Professional Year programs starting with the September 16, 2011 deadline will be expected to meet the new GPA requirements.

If you have questions regarding the changes to the programs, please feel free to contact your advisor or the Office of Teacher Education (teoffice@boisestate.edu).

Important Information regarding the Teacher Education & Professional Year Application Process:

Attention Students:

Per the Boise State University Undergraduate Catalog, “Because a large number of students seek admission to [teacher education], not all applications can be admitted. Each academic year, a target number of applicants is established and applicants are accepted until the number is reached.”

What does this mean?: This means that not all students that apply to the program will necessarily get in. Once we have reached the limit number of students for a semester, we are full. Students will have to reapply for the next semester.

Beginning with the upcoming February 4, 2011 application deadline, preference for admission to the Teacher Education & Professional Year programs will be given to students who submit a complete application packet (ie: All required tests must be completed. All required coursework must be completed or in-progress). In addition, preference will be given to those with highest academic grade point average, and to those in specialty areas that have been identified as shortage areas in Idaho. Shortage areas may change over time.

What does this mean?: This means that the students who have EVERYTHING completed when they turn in their application will be reviewed for admission first.

Beginning with the September 16, 2011 application deadline, all application packets MUST BE COMPLETE to be considered for the Teacher Education or Professional Year programs. All required tests must be completed. All required coursework must be completed or in-progress. Preference for admission to the programs will be given to those with the highest academic grade point average, and to those in specialty areas that have been identified as shortage areas in Idaho. Shortage areas my change over time.

What does this mean?: This means that students MAY NOT APPLY to the Teacher Education or Professional Year programs unless they have all of their requirements completed (current courses may be in-progress).
