Teaching for TodayAlternate Route ProgramsThe Idaho State Board of Education approved three alternate routes to Idaho certification effective July 1, 2006. Two of the three routes available through the BSU College of Education are described below: Alternative Authorization - Teacher to New Certification/Endorsement Teachers with a teaching certificate who are seeking to obtain a new certificate or add a new endorsement through the State of Idaho Alternate Route Program should first consult the Idaho Department of Education. More information on the Alternative Authorization - Teacher to New Certification/Endorsement program may be found on the Idaho Department of Education website. Teachers with a Secondary Certificate wishing to add endorsements to their certificate through the alternate route program may contact 426-2756. Teachers wishing to obtain Special Education - Teacher to New Certification through the alternate route program may contact Dr. Keith Allred (426-1548). Alternative Authorization - Content Specialist Individuals who are highly and uniquely qualified in a subject area to teach in a district with an identified need for teachers in that area may enroll in an expedited route to certification program to earn an initial teaching certificate. More information on the Alternative Authorization - Content Specialist program may be found on the Idaho Department of Education website.
