PRAXIS II Subject Area Assessments (Idaho PRAXIS II Handbook)

Boise State University and the State of Idaho require candidates to demonstrate their mastery of their content knowledge by successfully completing the PRAXIS II Subject Area Assessment. Elementary candidates must successfully complete (minimum score 143) PRAXIS II: Elementary Content Knowledge (0014) prior to beginning their Professional Year. They must successfully complete (minimum score 161) PRAXIS II: Principles of Learning and Teaching K-6 (0522) or (minimum score 162) PRAXIS II: Principles of Learning and Teaching 5-9 (0523) prior to beginning their Student Teaching Semester. Secondary Education candidates must complete their PRAXIS II Subject Area test in their major subject and minor subject (if appropriate) before beginning student teaching. Visit Required for Certification by the State of Idaho to determine which subject area assessments are required. The minimum cut score may be found at Qualifying Scores. Candidates may register for the assessment by visiting (The PRAXIS Series). The Prometric Center does not offer the PRAXIS II series. They may only be taken by registering before the deadline and taking the exam at the appointed place and time. It is recommended candidates take the assessment early in their program because of the time delay in receiving assessment results.
