Professional OrganizationsCouncil for Exceptional ChildrenThe Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) is the largest international professional organization dedicated to improving educational outcomes for individuals with exceptionalities, students with disabilities, and/or the gifted. CEC advocates for appropriate governmental policies, sets professional standards, provides continual professional development, advocates for newly and historically underserved individuals with exceptionalities, and helps professionals obtain conditions and resources necessary for effective professional practice. National Center for Learning DisabilitiesThe mission of the National Center for Learning Disabilities (NCLD) is to increase opportunities for all individuals with learning disabilities to achieve their potential. NCLD accomplishes its mission by increasing public awareness and understanding of learning disabilities, conducting educational programs and services that promote research-based knowledge, and providing national leadership in shaping public policy. Since 1989, IPUL has been designated as Idaho's Parent Training and Information Center (PTI) by the U.S. Department of Education, which provides funding for its programs. IPUL's activities are also supported from various state agencies, fund-raisers and through parents memberships. CBM provides functional and ecologically valid assessments of basic skills that can be used to improve and evaluate instructional programs for students with and without disabilities. School systems implementing CBM in a Problem-Solving model demonstrate more efficient special education decision-making and more effective instructional programs for all students. This site is designed to facilitate dissemination and implementation of CBM technology with preservice and inservice training for general educators, special educators, and school psychologists. Dynamic Indicators of Basic Literacy SkillsThe Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS) are a set of standardized, individually administered measures of early literacy development. They are designed to be short (one minute) fluency measures used to regularly monitor the development of pre-reading and early reading skills.
