The Institute for the
Study of Addiction - Mission Statement |
|
Both the College of Education and the College of Health Sciences are
providing quality information dissemination and professional
development opportunities for substance abuse prevention and
addictions treatment professionals as well as other professionals
interested in addictions. Given the insidious foothold of
addictions problems in the American population, the ongoing health
risks associated with addictions, and the infusion of government
funding available to address these issues, the study of addictions
is of vital importance. Hence, the creation of the Institute for the
Study of Addiction. The Institute's MISSION is to: |
- Provide
more opportunities for BSU addictions related training in the
community, state, and region.
|
-
Consolidate and streamline current BSU programming in addictions
and substance abuse prevention.
|
- Expand
information dissemination and research functions to meet growing
needs in the Treasure Valley, state, and region.
|
- Directly
contribute to the University's mission of a Metropolitan
Research University of Distinction.
|
| Primary Goals |
- To provide science to service
training to professionals along the continuum of prevention
(primary, secondary, tertiary), treatment and continuing care.
- Increase leadership, supervision,
and service capacity for addictions related professionals in
the Treasure Valley and Idaho.
