Special Announcement

Mary Heers, retired Academic Decathlon coach at Preston High School, was recently elected to the United States Academic Decathlon Board of Directors.

Heers was eligible for a retired Academic Decathlon coach position on the USAD board.  She was a most successful coach at Preston and twice led Preston to the USAD National competition.  She defeated two other excellent candidates (both from California) in an election by the state directors at their summer meeting in Madison, Wisconsin in July.

The Idaho Academic Decathlon family is excited to have this outstanding individual representing all decathletes from across the United States, especially those in the West.  We look forward to having Mary work with the other members of this talented national board to continually improve this premier academic competition.
