The interview and speech events were one of the best things
that could have happened to me. They forced me to become comfortable
talking to people I didn't know, which is a necessary asset in the
world we live in. Those skills have helped me in my college interviews,
job interviews, making friendships, etc. I had so much fun with
my team mates, and State Deca was definitely a highlight of every
year I competed (three years).

I mostly enjoyed yelling and cheering for those who guessed right
on the super quiz, especially when they were the only one who got
it right, this made them feel great every time. I also enjoyed causing
trouble during the state competition, and giving my coach such a
challenge.

I competed with Shoshone High School my junior and senior years of high school. I was a married high school student, and mother, and enjoyed the program. It was one of the places that I was comfortable, and felt accepted, and even felt like an asset to the program. I graduated in June 2005, and received the first IAD Special Scholarship. This program has given me more than I can express, including written and verbal skills, and the opportunity to learn. My gratitude to this program is great, and I thank those who helped to make my educational goals seem possible. Please feel free to contact me.
Thanks again for the support.

at study sessions and tournaments.

I have participated in the Academic Decathlon program for 1 year.
I have enjoyed the program for many reasons. The information was
very detailed, but I thought that it gave me a deeper understanding
and perspective on topics that I am not normally exposed to on a
daily basis (such as Art). Some of the information pertained to
everyday life and I thought it was valuable. I will no longer be
a member of the Academic Decathlon group, due to the fact that I
will be graduating this coming June 2002. Thank you.

I loved every minute of Academic Decathlon, it was my time to shine.
I made great friendships with my teammates and my competion. My
absolute favorite memories of Academic Decathlon would be going
to Nationals both years, getting to experience Alaska and Arizona,
and of course, battling it out with Centennial High school, who
are excellent people, for top honors! Academic Decathlon really
gave me a bigger view on what life was all about, and I feel that
I have grown tremendously from my experiences in the program.

I greatly enjoyed it! I go to Sandpoint High School and I am going
to participate in this great program next year as well. I really
enjoyed being on our school's Academic Decathlon team for the first
time. Participating at state was one of the most rewarding experiences
of my life; I particularly liked the sense of belonging that being
on a team gave me.

I have participated in Aca Deca for the past 2 years. I really enjoyed
my experiences because it gave me a broad overview of many different
subjects. It was nice to get a base knowledge of areas that I might
not have otherwise studied. Thank you!

I am a participant in the Idaho Academic Decathlon this year and
will continue next year. Therefore this was/is my first year. You
run it so well and I definitely am going to participate in next
year's Academic Decathlon...knowing we're going to go to nationals.
What I liked most was having other teams being so friendly throughout
the somewhat long day. Email me sometime.

I participated in Academic Decathlon this school year, (2001-2002)
and I loved it. You learn so much, and you come away with an awesome
experience. I liked the experience of the interview and speech.
I have improved in my speaking in front of the class, and it has
increased my confidence. I have enjoyed this year so much that I
have decided to take Aca Deca next year.

This past year I participated in the Academic Decathlon program
for the first time. My favorite part of the decathlon was the since
of camaraderie I sensed between my teammates and myself as we tested
alongside other schools, Decathlon rocks.

To be perfectly honest, I wasn't actually planning to take Aca Deca
my senior year... but alas, I learned that some things are not within
my realm of control. But, despite the surprise schedule change,
the long hours of studying (yeah...right), and the mere three competitions
in which I was honored to compete, I loved the experience. I'll
never forget the bus ride to Boise (which was rather painful), the
near-concussion after the first day's competition, or the air-raids
by the llama everyone keeps telling me is really a camel. My fondest
high school memories will always be of winter afternoons in Mrs.
Buckway's class...
