2008-2009 Early Childhood
Studies Scholarship
A Blended Program: Early
Childhood Education/Early Childhood Special Education
In 2002 the J.A. and Kathryn
Albertson Foundation gave Boise State University a generous grant to assist
students in obtaining the Early Childhood/Early Childhood Special Education
Blended Certificate (Birth-Grade 3). Renewable scholarships of up to $3,000 are
available for each year, fall and spring semesters. No scholarship money is
available during the summer semester.
For each semester of award,
recipients must be enrolled in at least one required course in a planned
program that culminates in the Early Childhood/Early Childhood Special
Education Blended Certificate (Birth-Grade 3). Undergraduate recipients are
expected to enroll in a minimum of 8 credits and complete the program within
six years, and post-graduates are expected to enroll in a minimum of six
credits and complete the program within three years. All recipients must
continue to meet criteria to renew their scholarship on a semester-by-semester
basis. They must also sign an agreement that they will teach or work with
children (birth-grade 3) in Idaho a minimum of one year after graduating and
earning the ECE/ECSE Blended Certificate.
Individuals who are returning
to college and/or articulating from two-year AA/AAS programs in early
childhood, child development, or early childhood special education are
encouraged to apply.
