Application Procedure
An applicant should follow the general application procedures for graduate degree-seeking students (see Applying as a Degree-Seeking Student in the Graduate Admissions Policies and Procedures section of the Graduate Catalog). A separate application to the Graduate College is required. Call the Graduate College at 208.426.3903 or apply online. In addition, an application must submit the following.
1. Statement of Purpose explaining the student’s motivation for pursuing the graduate certificate and a description of career interests.
2. Up-to-date resume
3. Three letters of reference, in which the applicant’s academic potential is evaluated, to the appropriate Graduate Certificate Program Advisor. (For applicants who applied for the program within three years, those references can be used.)
Once an applicant’s files is complete, the Addiction Studies Graduate Certificate Committee will evaluate and may interview applicants. Then an admission recommendation (regular, provisional, or denial) will be forwarded to the Dean of the Graduate College. The Dean will make the final admission decision and notify the applicant. In the case of a recommendation for provisional admission, the Committee will also establish the stipulations that must be satisfied by the student to advance to regular status. Admission to the Certificate in Addiction Studies does not guarantee subsequent admission to any other certificate or graduate programs.
Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.
