Crazy Bad Awful Mixed-Up Map of Idaho
Hi Students!
Help me straighten out the detail on this Idaho map. (Click on the map to make it larger.)
Something terrible happened to it. I had correctly marked everything for the artist by writing the answers on little slips of paper and laying them on the map in the right places. Unfortunately, the artist---a real boob---opened the window before he started to work, and the slips of paper blew all over the room. He must have been too embarrassed to tell me what had happened, because he decided to "fake it." He just gathered up all the slips and put them wherever he thought they might go, hoping that I wouldn't notice one or two mistakes.
Anyway, here is the map just the way it looked when he finished it. Obviously there are more than one or two mistakes. He even drew one of the rivers running in the wrong direction! (I said he was a real boob.)
Your job is to help straighten out the map. I know you are much smarter than the artist.
1. On the map, you will find numbers 1 through 12 each starred with an asterisk (such as *2). The numbers on the map mark the locations of the 10 cities and 2 land features shown in the list below. On the back of the map, number from 1 to 12 and write the correct name beside each number. (Choose the correct name from the list below.)
| Boise | Hailey | Minnetonka Cave | Pocatello |
| Burley | Idaho Falls | Moscow | Sandpoint |
| Coeur d'Alene | Lewiston | Mount Borah | Twin Falls |
2. Some or all of the states on Idaho's borders are wrong. Draw a line through each incorrect name and write in the correct name.
3. Most of the lakes, rivers, and mountains are also wrong. Mark out each wrong label and write in the correct one. If you find a river running in the wrong direction, draw it in correctly.
