Module 1    Lewis and Clark Come to Idaho

TEACHING NOTES.  The purpose of Module 1 is to immerse the students in the world of Lewis and Clark.

The  Lewis and Clark Bicentennial is now being celebrated with extensive media attention.  Materials in this module will help students understand the adventure, the dangers, and the accomplishments of Lewis and Clark and the other brave people who made up the Corps of Discovery.

Students should have a time line to help them understand when these events occurred, and they need to their importance to the United States---at that time and since.  They must understand about time so they can understand the sequential nature of history, cause and effect, and related ideas.  Thus they also need to know what was happening in the United States during that time period.  You can provide this with a brief overview of United States history of that era.

Module 1 has several parts relating the the Lewis and Clark journey, and it also links to Lewis and Clark web sites.  We believe that you and your students will enjoy the journey!  Just click on the icon at the left of each adventure.
