Robert Smart, Ph.D. is an assistant professor of educational leadership at Boise State University.  He teaches graduate courses in educational leadership leading to the initial credentialing of school principals.  Dr. Smart arrives at BSU with considerable experience in K-12 organizations.  He served as a middle school teacher, an assistant principal, a principal, and most recently as an executive director of a school district.  Dr. Smart’s research agenda includes the effects of rapid promotion to the principalship, mentoring issues surrounding the principalship, and how schools can better organize to meet the ever-increasing needs of students, teachers, parents, and educational stakeholders.  He earned his Ph.D. from Gonzaga University in Washington State, and now lives in Boise, Idaho.
