PROGRAM GOALS

To develop educational leaders who:

  1. Inspire, mobilize, and support people to continuously improve student learning and achievement.
  2. Develop school cultures, conditions and people capabilities that are proven to support high levels of student learning and achievement.
  3. Are the preferred recruits of Idaho school districts.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Apply to Graduate School (Former or current BSU graduate students must apply to the Graduate College.  However, the application fee will be waived.) 

Admission to a cohort as an Educational Leader Candidate will be based on the applicant’s current qualifications, perceived potential capabilities, and level of commitment.  Applicants must have four years of full-time certificated experience working with students Pre-K-12 while under contract in a school setting.   The requirements include

  • Minimum of 3.0 GPA in previous undergraduate or graduate degree.
  • Two letters of recommendation - one from an immediate supervisor in support of the candidate's participation in the program and one from someone who can speak to the candidate's leadership ability and/or potential.
  • Letter of application, including professional goals.
  • Recommendation based upon an interview with Educational Leadership Development faculty.

SELECTION OF CANDIDATES

Applications will be accepted beginning March 15, 2009. Interviews will be conducted until the cohort is filled.  Admission decisions will be made holistically and will be based on the applicant’s current qualifications, perceived potential capabilities, and level of commitment.  Twenty-five candidates will be accepted per cohort based on qualifications and order of applications received.
