B.A in Elementary Education

The department offers programs in elementary education that lead to a recommendation to the Idaho State Department of Education for certification in Elementary Education, K-8.  For endorsements in specialized areas see programs offered by the following departments:  Bilingual Education, Early Childhood Studies, Literacy, and Special Education.

This 128-credit hour program prepares professionals to work in grades K-8. For those who wish to teach at the middle school level (grades 6-8) an additional endorsement area in a content field will be necessary.  The program places students in local area classrooms while they study teaching as an academic and professional endeavor.

Admission to Elementary Teacher Education

Students preparing to become elementary school teachers must be accepted for admission to the elementary teacher education program.  Admission to elementary teacher education is required before a student may enroll in certain upper-division teacher education courses.  All admission requirements must be completed before admission will be granted.

It is the student's responsibility to provide transcripts and other documents to demonstrate requirements have been met.  Application is made through the Office of Teacher Education, education Building, room 222.

For admission requirements please see the university undergraduate catalog.
