Dr. Elva
Reza-López, Ph. D. Dr. Reza-López is a new member
of the faculty of the Department of Bilingual Education at Boise State
University. Her area of specialization is Multicultural and Bilingual Literacy,
English as a Second Language and Sheltered English. She has a Bachelor Degree in
Sociology and a Master of Education as Instructional Specialist with emphasis in
Bilingual education, Math and Science, both degrees obtained at University of
Texas at El Paso (UTEP). She got her Ph. D in New Mexico State University and
the title of her dissertation was “A Critical Case Study of High School
Academic English in the U.S.- Mexican boarder: Towards a Pedagogy of Human
Dignity.” This study addressed how a high school content teacher and three of
his Limited English language learners referred as to as “lifers,” perceived
the teaching and learning of academic English in this age of accountability in a
U.S. borderland. Dr. Reza López worked at New
Mexico State University with Undergraduate and Graduate students in the area of
Bilingual Literacy with emphasis on Applied Critical Pedagogy. She was a
two-term President of the Southwest Association for Bilingual Teachers (SWABE)
as well as the editor of the Editorial Board for the New Mexico Association for
Supervision and Curriculum Development Newsletter (NMASCD). She was also
Vice-President for Texas Teachers Of Other Languages TEXTESOL, Region I.
