Dr. Claudia Peralta NashMini biographyDr. Peralta Nash is the Chair of the Department of Bilingual Education. She's from Uruguay, South America. Her teaching interests are in the area of language and literacy, bilingual/bicultural education; multicultural education; and social justice. Before coming to Boise State University, Dr. Nash taught at California State University in Chico, University of Colorado in Boulder, and California State University, Monterey Bay.
Besides publishing journals, articles and a book chapter, she has made numerous presentations at the conferences of the American Educational Research Association (AERA), National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE), National Association of Bilingual Education (NABE), and the International Reading Association (IRA).
Dr. Peralta Nash has been awarded grants from the U.S. Department of Education Office of English Language Acquisition, Idaho State Board of Education, the University of California, State University, Monterey Bay and the University of Colorado, Boulder.
Her research includes ethnographic and sociolinguistic research on social construction of knowledge in classrooms, language and literacy in bilingual classrooms and cross-cultural education.
